Maureen Stone
Maureen Stone was born in 1940. She moved to Ottery St Mary in Devon in 2000 and became a member of Otter Vale and Honiton Art Societies. Since then she has sold regularly in both society annual exhibitions, other group exhibitions and has won commendations and awards.
Maureen took up art seriously after being diagnosed with Breast Cancer in 1996. She decided to respond to the diagnosis in a positive way and began to focus on her art. She has since had the all-clear in 2002.
Watercolour is her primary medium as she finds it both challenging and exciting. She works with large wet-into-wet washes, usually with a limited palette. Her home in Devon provides unlimited subject matter for her work in landscapes. More recently she has worked with acrylics and pastel, and experiments combining these with collage to produce work in mixed media.
